Slightly Unhinged, Fully Seasoned
Hi, I'm KC.
I started Saucy Spoon Co in the summer of 2025 for a stupidly simple reason: I wanted to leave my four daughters a recipe book one day, and posting recipes as I made them was easier than actually writing one. Turns out, a lot of you needed these recipes too.
I'm a mom of four daughters from the Raleigh, NC area, which means my life runs on sarcasm, snacks, and selective hearing.
How I actually got here
I'm an NCSU grad with a degree in psychology (focused on abnormal psych, because of course), and I spent about 15 years working almost every job a restaurant can throw at you before pivoting into the mental health field and working with veterans for five years. These days I run my own behavioral science network and Saucy Spoon Co side by side — one feeds your brain, this one feeds your people.
I've been cooking at home for over 16 years. I learned from a mix of family recipes and a decade and a half of restaurant tricks I'm not technically supposed to share but absolutely will. I cook almost every day, multiple meals on weekends, and I host both sides of the family every holiday — yes, that means two full Thanksgiving spreads, every year, on purpose.
If you're wondering whether I can actually cook: my Colombian mother-in-law approves of my pico de gallo. That's the only credential that really matters.
What makes Saucy Spoon Co different
I'll be straight with you — I hate food blogs that make you scroll past a 10-page essay about a sunset in Tuscany before you can find out how much salt goes in the pasta. So against every SEO rulebook out there, I keep my intros short enough that you can actually find the recipe. (Also long enough that Google still finds me. I'm trying.)
Most of my recipes are budget-friendly. The ones that aren't will say so right up front. We try the viral recipes too — I have a teen and a pre-teen and they're the reason every trending TikTok recipe goes through this kitchen at least once.
Who this is for
You. If you're a wife, a mom, a new mom, a dog mom, a person who lives alone, a person who lives with six other people — if you're just trying to figure dinner out and want one less thing to stress over, you're in the right place.
If duck l'orange is on your weekly rotation… you're probably not. No hard feelings.
A few honest things about me
In case we end up being kitchen friends:
I'm always listening to an audiobook while I cook or clean.
I keep an organized kitchen, but I am not a fast cleaner.
I refuse to use plastic cookware or Teflon, and microplastics give me the ick. I promise I'm only a little OCD about it.
Football season at our house means appetizer spreads or share-style dinners — buffalo chicken dip, pico, and Rotel dip carry the team.
My oldest daughter loves to bake. She's not quite ready to share her recipes here yet — she's protecting her love of it, which I deeply respect — but when she's ready, her desserts will be all over this site.
My family-famous foods: homemade Uncrustables (yes, really), focaccia, cheesecake, and flautas. I'll get to all of them.
What you can count on
When you cook with Saucy Spoon Co, you can count on a delicious meal that didn't break the bank. And if a recipe runs higher, I'll disclose it in the post. No surprises, no upsells, no "$12 of saffron later…" energy.
As of right now, Saucy Spoon Co is closing in on 400,000 Pinterest impressions a month, I've been accepted to Walmart Creators, and I have an Amazon storefront stocked with the tools I actually use — not the ones I was paid to pretend I use. Every time you spend time in the kitchen with me, the ads on the site help me keep it going. Thank you for that. Genuinely.
I've also been published and given keynote presentations to audiences of women leaders on emotional intelligence — but this is the corner of the internet where I just want to feed people.
Friends are always welcome to the Saucy Kitchen.
